Working at Height for Lightning Conductor Engineers must be undertaken by any Lightning Conductor Engineer prior to renewing their CSCS Skilled Worker card.

Course Information

The course will be delivered by an ATLAS-endorsed course provider and the course content will meet the requirements for the renewal of CSCS cards.  Operatives will receive training in the full range of areas, including:

  • Legal requirements – employer and employee duties
  • Selection and use of appropriate work equipment dependent on access method
  • Fall protection equipment
  • Public protection
  • Health and Safety at Work Act and the Work at Height Regulations
  • Ladder types and their use
  • Ladder regulations and codes of practice
  • Practical inspection, handling and fixing of ladders.

    Course Information

    An individual certified to Ultrasonic Level 2 has demonstrated competence to perform NDT according to Ultrasonic Testing procedures. Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Level 2 personnel may be authorised by the employer to:

    • Select the Ultrasonic technique for the test method to be used;
    • Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
    • Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the actual working conditions;
    • Set up and verify equipment settings;

    • Correct anchors and their working loads
    • Transferring loads through anchors and how to install anchors

    • Appropriate actions to take if an anchor fails a test
    • Understanding the way loads are transferred through anchors when installing steeplejack ladders and scaffold.
