The Training Group holds a number of sector-specific courses for SLPTG members throughout the year, including Anchors for Steeplejacks and Working at Height for Lightning Conductor Engineers, which are a CSCS card requirement.
Courses are organised throughout the year at a low-cost fee or free of charge for SLPTG members. Due to the way that SLPTG is funded through CITB, it cannot permit non-members to book places on the training courses.

Booking an SLPTG training session just got simpler! Whether you’re a steeplejack or a lightning conductor engineer, our smart new booking system will handle it all.
Until now, booking training has involved various forms, emails, invoices and even phone calls. We know this is time-consuming, and it must be hard for you to keep track of what’s happening. So, we’ve made some changes.
What’s changing?
Using our shiny new booking system, simply select the course you want, pick a date, enter a few details and pay for it online. All this is done quickly and securely. As always, either the delegate can book for themselves or someone else can do it on their behalf (the ‘lead booker’).
Once the booking is confirmed, the lead booker and the delegate will receive a series of helpful emails with course materials, joining instructions and reminders before the day.
For added reassurance, you can also log in and see the courses you’ve booked and access all relevant information within your account. Any feedback from the trainer will be in there too, so it’s handy for future reference. It just means everything is there for you in one place.
All this really streamlines the process from our side too, so we’ve got more time to spend improving the courses, talking to members and doing what we love most – advancing and celebrating safe working practices.
How to book a training course
Booking a course is simple. Here’s what you do:
- Visit our website and click ‘book now’ beside the course you want
- Log in (or register, if it’s your first time)
- Choose a date
- Select the number of attendees (i.e. delegates)
- Enter their details
- Pay by credit or debit card on the secure payment page
- Look out for your confirmation email
And remember, if you need any help, our friendly and knowledgeable team is always on hand. There’s also a user guide that answers the most common questions.

Anchors for Steeplejacks
SLPTG offers subsidised Anchors for Steeplejacks training for its members. This course must be completed by any steeplejack prior to renewing their CSCS Skilled Worker card.
Working at Height for Lightning Conductor Engineers
SLPTG offers subsidised Working at Height for Lightning Conductor Engineers training for its members. This course must be completed by any Lightning Conductor Engineer prior to renewing their CSCS Skilled Worker card.
